Malacca associations call for expulsion of N. Korean ambassador

MALACCA: Tan Sri Mohd Ali Rustam today tabled a five-point protest over North Korea's attitude towards Malaysian authorities’ investigation of the Kim Jong-nam assassination.

While calling for the North Korean embassy’s Second Secretary, Hyon Kwang Song, to surrender himself to aid police in the probe, Mohd Ali also called for its ambassador to be deported and the embassy to be closed as a mark of national protest.

Mohd Ali, who is president of Dunia Melayu Dunia Islam (DMDI), also called for the North Korean government to investigate how its agents obtained chemical weapons, such as the VX nerve agent allegedly used to kill Kim.

"DMDI and the National Silat Federation of Malaysia, or Pesaka, (call for the government) to deport North Korean ambassador to Malaysia, Kang Chol, for his disrespect towards the laws of the country," said Mohd Ali, who is also Pesaka president.

"We also stress that the North Korean government should not interfere in the investigations into Kim Jong-nam's death, which are being carried out in a professional manner by Malaysian police," he added.
