Jong-nam killing: North Korean delegation arrives for discussions with M'sian gov't

KUALA LUMPUR: A North Korean delegation has arrived in Malaysia to discuss issues with the Malaysian government, including the return of Kim Jong-Nam's remains and release of a man arrested in connection with the case.

The delegation spokesman, Ri Tong-il, a former North Korean envoy to the United Nations, arrived here afternoon.

Speaking to reporters outside the North Korean Embassy, Ri said he would act as a spokesman in the discussion.

"I will be the official spokesman representing the embassy from now onwards," he said.

Ri said he will highlight three main issues with Malaysian government official.

"The issues are related to the return of the North-Korean citizen remains, the released of the North Korean citizen who was detained by the police and the diplomatic relations between the two countries." he said.

Jong-nam, the elder half-brother of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, was killed by two women at klia2 on Feb 13.

The chemical used in the attack, identified as VX, has been classified by the United Nations as a weapon of mass destruction.

Police have arrested the first of two suspected female assailants, a 29-year-old woman in possession of a Vietnamese travel document bearing the name Doan Thi Huong at klia2 at 8.20am on Feb 15, and the second suspect, an Indonesian identified as Siti Aishah, 25, on Feb 16.

They have also arrested a third suspect, North Korean citizen Ri Jong-chol, and were looking for three more men.
