KUALA LUMPUR: China's Feng Shanshan surged to the top of the leaderboard after a rain-lashed third day at the Sime Darby LPGA Malaysia led to play suspension on Saturday.
Feng returned to the course after a delay of four hours to bogey the 11th hole before draining four birdies in her next five to reach seven-under for the round. With two holes to complete, Feng led Sweden's Anna Nordqvist by one shot on a 13-under total.
Nordqvist is five-under for the round with three holes to go, while South Korean Amy Yang, the leader on the first two days, is third on 11-under total after carding two birdies and a bogey in 15 holes.
Feng, Nordvqist and Yang are among 27 players who will return to TPC Kuala Lumpur on Sunday morning to complete the third round ahead of the final 18 holes.
Norway's Suzann Pettersen is the clubhouse leader after shooting six-under 66 for a 204 total, level with Taiwan's Candie Kung, who is two-under through 15 holes.
World No 1 Lydia Ko is lurking ominously on eight-under after completing a six-birdie 65 for the second best round of the day after Paula Creamer's 64.
"The girls are playing great," said Ko of New Zealand. "Depending on where they put the pin positions, really rely on how low the scores are.
"But I've just got to focus on my game. That's what I tried to do yesterday and today, and that's how I got to this position, so I think I have to do the same thing for tomorrow," she added.
Defending champion Jessica Korda of the United States is one of seven players on seven-under 206.
Taiwan's Tseng Yani raised a loud cheer when she had an albatross on the par-five sixth hole.
"That was my first time," said the former World No 1. "I saw it going in, and everybody was cheering really loud. I had 188 yards to the pin, downwind. I hit a seven-iron and it landed perfectly and to just see it go in is pretty cool."
Kelly Tan is the best-placed Malaysian after mixing four birdies with two bogeys in a two-under 69 for joint-47th on 215.
