(Actionline) Twilight all night

Residential areas of Emerald Gardens, Emerald West and Kota Emerald in Rawang look fabulous from the North-South Expressway.

But when night comes, those areas are pitch black as the streetlights are not on, raising fear among the residents who also feel cheated.

One of them, Tan Kim Leong, says the residents have been complaining to Selayang Municipal Council via its Internet portal for the past six months but the only reply they have received is that “the matter is being investigated.”

They have also brought the matter to the attention of Rawang member of Parliament Gan Pei Nei but nothing has been done.

Another resident, Lim, says most of the residents stay indoors come night as it is dark and gloomy in the evening.

“No one dares venture out of their houses. There are streetlights but all of them are not working,” he says.

ACTIONLINE:

The Selayang Municipal Council says it is waiting for the developer, Promakmur Development Sdn Bhd to hand over the properties.

Its spokesman tells Actionline that although the council had already received an application from the developer, it has yet to complete the submission process.

The handover was supposed to have been done last August but the council is still awaiting the final submission.

The spokesman asks that the residents remain patient as the council sorts out the process.

“The Selayang Municipal Council will communicate with the developer to help resolve the issue as soon as possible,” the spokesman added.
