Seeking digital revenue growth [VIDEO]

Media Prima Radio Networks launches ‘Podcast’, E-Commerce’ and ‘Icon’ to remain relevant in ever-changing media landscape, writes Tahir Alhamzah

MEDIA Prima Radio Networks (MPRN) has launched three new initiatives to strengthen its position in the industry and to seek new revenue opportunities.

The initiatives are “Podcast”, “E-Commerce” and “Icon”.

“These three new initiatives are proof of MPRN’s continuation to compete and remain relevant in the ever-changing media landscape,” MPRN chief executive officer Seelan Paul said at the MPRN trade launch at Sime Darby Convention Centre recently.

He said these initiatives were proof of MPRN’s focus in delivering the best and relevant radio content to its target audience, and to create a media platform, which provided business opportunities to new and existing partners.

“MPRN aims to always stay ahead by creating a Podcast hub with a new brand: ‘Ais Kacang’.

Podcast is a digital media format comprising a series of talk shows with specific themes that listeners can stream digitally.

Via Ais Kacang, listeners can listen to original programming content through 30 different podcasts weekly using the three main languages: Malay, English and Chinese.

“Ais Kacang aims to capitalise on the global popularity of podcasts and use it for Malaysian customers.

“MPRN will harness the power of its digital platform, which has 7.7 million followers. Through this platform, we can provide our clients with another alternative to advertise and promote their products and services,” Paul said.

Individuals are also welcomed to contribute creative podcast content to Ais Kacang, which aspires to be the largest podcast hub in Malaysia.

Paul said consumers were moving towards online shopping, so MPRN would use it to generate revenue by offering an alternative way for e-commerce merchants to advertise and promote their platforms.

MPRN will act as a virtual storefront, where partners can advertise their products through the official website of FlyFM, HotFM, OneFM or KoolFM.

“The radio stations will have their own icon to reflect the character of the station, as well as their target audience.

“These icons aim to strengthen the stations’ branding and to explore new business opportunities in producing premium merchandise, as well as to generate revenue.”

Also present at the launch were Media Prima Bhd group managing director Datuk Sri Amrin Awaluddin, group chief financial officer Mohamad Ariff Ibrahim, group chief technology officer Zuraidah Atan, Media Prima Television Networks chief executive officer Datuk Kamal Khalid and Primeworks Studios chief executive officer Datuk Ahmad Izham Omar.
