None of 216 quarantined Perak students showing symptoms of H1N1: MB

PASIR SALAK: None of the 216 students currently quarantined in the state for exhibiting symptoms of influenza is showing signs of H1N1 infection, said Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir.

In allaying concerns over H1N1 resurfacing in the state following an outbreak five years ago, Zambry said the students have only showed symptoms of seasonal flu.

"(None present with) symptoms of H1N1. So their parents need not worry. It is only seasonal flu," Zambry told reporters after attending the Karnival Mahabbah Institusi Agama event here in Kampung Gajah.

Earlier, State Health Committee chairman Datuk Dr Mah Hang Soon said that of the total number of quarantined students, 129 are from Sekolah Raja Perempuan Taayah, 84 are from Sekolah Tuanku Abdul Rahman and three are from Sekolah Kebangsaan Klebang.

All are being confined to their respective hostels.
