For power's sake, DAP willing to cheat Chinese, says Liow

KUALA LUMPUR: DAP is willing to sacrifice their ideologies just to "cheat the Chinese", said MCA president Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai today.

He said DAP stalwart Lim Kit Siang and secretary-general Lim Guan Eng did not care about their principles, and were only aiming for power.

"Their ideologies are vastly different and they knew that they cannot work together.

"However, for the sake of power, DAP is willing to cheat the Chinese community," he said at the Wanita MCA Federal Territory's 40th anniversary here, last night.

Liow, who is also Transport Minister, said DAP used to praise Pas, saying that their struggles were not just for Muslims and that it wanted a welfare state.

"But now they've made a U-turn on Pas," he added.

Together with PKR, DAP and Pas were part of the now-defunct Pakatan Rakyat.

In 2015, DAP decided to sever ties with Pas after the former's fallout with the Islamic party's president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang.

Liow also said Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia chairman and former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, too, made a U-turn on Pas.

"Dr Mahathir used to say many things about Pas, but now (his party) wants to work with Pas, claiming that it was for the 'sake of the country' and to 'Save Malaysia'."
