Online marketplace draws RM3.1mil in revenue

PUTRAJAYA: Online sales in Malaysia have grown by leaps and bounds with RM3.1million online sales revenue recorded in the last six months the Ministry of Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism (KPDNKK) announced today.

The significant growth has prompted the ministry to launch its maiden Digital World Consumers Day 2017 this afternoon.

Themed ‘Building a Digital World Consumers Can Trust’, the one-day forum was launched by its Deputy Minister Datuk Henry Sum Agong.

In his opening speech, Henry said the objective of the awareness programme was to educate Malaysian consumers on their rights as online buyers and current issues pertaining to the digital world.

Among the top online marketplace that participated in the event were mudah.my and lelong.com.my.
