(Swimming) M'sian Welson Sim bags two golds at Singapore National Age-group Championships

KUALA LUMPUR: Swimmer Welson Sim bagged two gold medals in the China Life Singapore National Age-group Swimming Championships at the OCBC Aquatic Centre on Friday.

The 19-year-old won the men's 18 and over 400m freestyle in 3:52.89.

Indonesia's Perwira Aflah Fadlan took silver in 3:55.88, ahead of Singapore's Pang Sheng Jun on 3:55.91.

It was Welson’s second title in the meet, following his victory in the men's 18 and over 200m freestyle final on Wednesday.

Welson clocked 1:49.27, ahead of Singapore's Yeo Kai Quan (1:49.37) and Sheng Jun (1:51.33).

Malaysian Caroline Chan clocked 29.71 for the silver in the women's 18 and over 50m backstroke, behind Singaporean Hoong En Qi (29.71).

Wong Fu Kang earned another silver for Malaysia in the men's 18 and over 100m breaststroke by recording 1:02.73.

Malaysia earned bronze medals through Tern Jian Han in the men's 18 and over 50m backstroke (26.71), and Chan Jie in the 18 and over 100m butterfly (54.29).
