PUTRAJAYA: Operations at the Putrajaya National Registration Department (NRD) are back to normal as of 9.45am.
Checks by the New Straits Times showed that it was business as usual, with customers filing into the building.
Two fire engines were also spotted outside the premises.
The department was temporarily closed at 8.45am due to a fire extinguisher gas leakage at Level 6 of the building.
NRD public relations officer Farah Maya Ahmad Jelani said all levels are now operational, except for the sixth floor, to allow the Fire and Rescue Department to conduct an investigation.
"The incident occurred in a room containing birth and death records.
"We immediately called the firemen to the scene. The public and NRD personnel were ordered to leave the premises.
"The situation is under control and our operations went back to normal about an hour later," she said when met at the NRD.
Putrajaya Fire and Rescue Department operations officer Mohd Zamari Ibrahim said the cause of the leakage is under investigation.
He said nobody was harmed in the incident.
