Christian Chin snags 1st boys' junior singles title at KL Int'l Junior Championships

KUALA LUMPUR: Top seed Christian Didier Chin finally captured his first boys' junior singles title in the International Tennis Federation (ITF) Circuit.

The 17-year-old overcame a tough second set to beat sixth-seed Dev Javia of India 6-1, 6-4 in the Kuala Lumpur International Junior Championships at the DBKL Tennis Centre in Titiwangsa today.

"Although the tournament is only rated 'Grade Five', it is still meaningful to achieve my first ever singles title on the ITF Junior Circuit," said Christian today.

"With the win, I will break into the top 200 junior ranking list for the first time. I hope to end the season in the top 100," he added.

Christian partnered Takeshi Koey in the doubles, but the Malaysians lost 2-6, 6-4, 10-5 to Ali Mooraj of Pakistan and Karan Srivastava of India in the final.

In the girls' singles, Sara Nayar was Malaysia's best performer by reaching the semi-finals.
