After Ranau, small quake hits Kunak

KOTA KINABALU: A second weak earthquake of 4.2 Richter magnitude hit Sabah today at 5.30pm in Kunak, after the first one in Ranau earlier.

It was located 35 kilometres northeast of Kunak, said Malaysian Meteorological Department in a statement.

"Tremors were felt at Ranau and Sandakan," adding that the department will continue to monitor the situation. Earlier at 1.10am, a weak earthquake with a magnitude of 3.2 on the Richter scale shook Ranau.

The epicentre was located about 11km west of Ranau, where tremors were felt at the district.
