Raja of Perlis urges support for CVIA project

PADANG BESAR: The Raja of Perlis Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Putra Jamalullail is confident the Padang Besar Chuping Valley Industrial Area (CVIA) project will become a socio-economic catalyst for the people of Perlis.

As such, he urged industry players, especially the private sector and foreign investors to seize the opportunity that would be provided at CVIA.

“The high-impact project which is equipped with an inland port is the state’s largest industrial area that will transform Padang Besar into a lucrative logistics hub in northern Malaysia,” he said when launching the CVIA here today.

Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin said it was impossible for the smallest state in Malaysia to take on grand projects alone, and urged for the involvement of various parties to provide support as well as help boost the development of the CVIA via their investments.

He also commended the state government’s efforts in collaborating with the Northern Corridor Implementation Authority (NCIA) in executing a detailed plan of the CVIA project since 2014, apart from receiving support from various government agencies to ensure the smooth running of the project.

“It is the first time in the history of the state that more than 1,200 hectares of industrial area has been established, offering job and business opportunities to the people.

“Perlis has long enjoyed political stability and strong unity. Thus, the time has come for us to improve the development of the state,” said Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin.

He believed the federal government would continue to give attention to the welfare of the state and support its efforts to develop the state’s economy. --Bernama
