KB motorcyclists ignore parking rules

MANY motorcyclists are ignoring the Kota Baru Municipal Council’s (MPKB) directive by parking their bikes in parking lots meant for four-wheelers.

This takes place daily in the morning, especially near banks, shopping complexes and public places.

Many motorists claimed that MPKB did not take action against motorcyclists who violate the law, including those parking their bikes in Jalan Kuala Krai.

Motorist Mohd Hafiz Yahya said he had several times seen parking spaces meant for cars being taken up by motorcyclists.

“They parked their bikes and left them there for hours. They are either aware of it but choose to ignore the rules, or they are have no knowledge of traffic rules.

“MPKB, as the council in charge of this, should take action or give them summonses,” said the 34-year -old from Telipot.

A MPKB spokesman said its enforcement officers would continue to carry out checks in Jalan Kuala Krai and other roads.

“Our officers will sometimes overlook these offences.

“However, from now on, we will ensure that motorcyclists who break the rules are issued summonses on the spot when found parking in spaces meant for cars.”
