KUCHING: Sarawak is firmly against the implementation of the Hudud law, as stated by the late Tan Sri Adenan Satem.
Chief Minister Datuk Amar Abang Johari Abang Openg said the state’s stance has never changed, however, if it’s Act 355, it is another matter altogether.
“Hudud is Hudud, while Act 355 is a Syariah law, so, it’s not the same,” he told the reporters after witnessing an MoU signing ceremony between Sarawak Energy Berhad and Sarawak Forestry Corporation here.
“For Act 355, our concern is that there might be discriminatory elements, in terms of penalties stipulated in the amendment.
“Since we had expressed our concern to the Prime Minister (Datuk Seri Najib Razak), we believe his wisdom in making an announcement soon.
“I don’t wish to repeat it again as it may complicate the issue,” he added.
