Residents upset over haphazard parking

Residents of Jalan Semangat opposite Jaya 33 Mall, Petaling Jaya, dread going home in the evening.

Inconsiderate motorists going to the mall and the Digital Mall nearby have been parking haphazardly by the roadside, causing congestion.

TAM YENG SIANG said despite the clamping zone signs put up by the local authorities, many still park their vehicles illegally along Jalan Semangat.

“Every time I pass the mall on my way home, I see vehicles parked in front of the mall. Some even double park their vehicles.

“The irony is that even though many cars are parked illegally, only one is clamped by the authorities.

“These illegally parked vehicles are disrupting the traffic flow along the road, especially during peak hours,” he said.

He said Petaling Jaya Municipal Council (MBPJ) should increase patrols and enforcement in the area to prevent illegal parking.

ACTIONLINE

Petaling Jaya Municipal Council (MBPJ) said it has been conducting patrols in the area frequently.

Public relations officer Zainun Zakaria, said enforcement officers had been conducting frequent patrols, in the area, daily.

“The problem is when MBPJ enforcement officers turn up, those who park their vehicles illegally along the road will immediately leave, and once the officers leave, others will take their place.

“I have forwarded complaints to the enforcement department and they are looking into the matter,” she said.
