Rodent menace in Taman Midah

Residents of Taman Midah, Cheras, are living in fear of rats in their homes.

AUNTY complained that for the past few years, the infestation of rats in her residential area had been a growing menace.

“Try imagine living in your home scared that a rat might suddenly invade your personal space.

“The infestation has really become tiresome.”

AUNTY added that there was also a lot of mosquitoes in the area.

“Someone from the area was reported to have fallen ill due to dengue fever.

“I hope something will be done about this matter.”

ACTIONLINE

The Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) has placed rodenticides to control the rat infestation in the housing area.

An officer of DBKL’s pest control unit said rodenticides had been placed at strategic locations of the residential area to control the pest.

“Operations to control the rats took place on the morning of March 30.”

The officer added that Taman Midah was being monitored by City Hall for dengue.

“After two dengue cases registered in just 14 days, Taman Midah is an active dengue area.

“When there’s an occurence of dengue in an area, control-related standard operating procedures will be carried out, namely finding and destroying mosquito larva, fogging and cleanups.”
