KUALA LUMPUR: More than RM5 billion in allocations were made under the 1Malaysia People's Aid programme (BR1M) this year, Parliament was told today.
The Finance Ministry said that as of Feb 28, the financial assistance was approved for 6.3 million people nationwide, involving RM5.4 billion.
"Selangor received the highest allocation of RM688.8 million, benefitting 831,473 recipients under BR1M," the ministry said in a written reply to a question from Datuk Ikmal Hisham Abdul Aziz (BN-Tanah Merah).
Ikmal had asked for the number of BR1M recipients this year, according to state.
