PUTRAJAYA: All Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK) under the Rural and Regional Development Ministry (KKLW) are now required to go for a mandatory administrative certificate course by UniKL.
The announcement was made by its Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaacob during the monthly gathering at his ministry this morning.
"I want the JKKK to be more professional in managing their villages. They are an important component in our grassroot support," said Ismail.
"That's why we have the JKKK admin course offered by UniKL in different zones. The fees will be fully subsidised by the government.
"Under the KKLW transformation programme, 16,000 village heads that formed the JKKK across the country, will have to undergo a three-day management programme by UniKL. A certificate will be issued for the course.
"It's a structured course, designed to improve their management skills, financial management skills and IT skills," explained Ismail.
"UniKL is the only university in this country that has this course and we are the first government ministry in the Asean region that has set up a centre for Rural Development in a university."
The first batch of pioneer students will involve 3,500 JKKK members from the southern region of Peninsular Malaysia. The total fees of RM3.5mil, including course material, food, daily subsistence allowance and insurance, will be fully absorbed by KKLW.
