KOTA BARU: A 14-year-old student who went missing while swimming with several friends at Sungai Pak Mat Akar, near Kampung Wakaf Mek Zainab here, at noon today, was found drowned shortly after.
A spokesman from the Kota Baru Fire Services and Rescue station said a search party found the body of Mohd Shahiram Hakim at 12.50pm not far from where he was last seen.
The spokesman said a team of firemen from the district station was sent to the scene soon after they received a missing person report at about noon.
"Firemen discovered the body about 40 minutes after arriving at the scene at 12.10pm, a few metres from where he was (last seen)," the spokesman said.
The body was sent to the Raja Perempuan Zainab II Hospital for a post-mortem.
