Three nabbed at Bukit Kayu Hitam checkpoint for drug possession

BUKIT KAYU HITAM: The Malaysian Border Control Agency (Aksem) detained two women and a man in possession of drugs at the border checkpoint here on Thursday.

The trio, aged between 23 and 24, were travelling from Penang to Thailand in a Proton Wira when they were flagged down at the Aksem checkpoint at Km1.3 of the North-South Expressway at about 4.15am.

It is learnt that the drugs, weighing a total of over 100 grams, were found in the front and back seats of the car.

The trio are being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 for drug trafficking, which carries the mandatory death penalty, upon conviction.
