Cheras murder: 'He was strangled so hard his neck broke'

KUALA LUMPUR: A man, whose badly-decomposed body was found in a flat in Bandar Permaisuri Cheras, was strangled so hard until his neck broke.

This was the outcome of a post-mortem investigation into the case, which revealed that the 32-year-old man died due to ligature strangulation which snapped his neck.

Cheras police chief Assistant Commissioner Chong Kok Sin said their investigation showed that the man was strangled while being bound, his wrists tied with a hair dryer cord and mobile phone charging cable.

“His next-of-kin, his mother and stepfather have already identified and claimed his body at the Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia Medical Centre,” he said.

Chong said the case is still under investigation and police have yet to identify the murderer.

On Monday, residents of Flat Sri Penara in Bandar Permaisuri Cheras had noticed a stench coming from one of the units, and alerted the police.

Police, after forcing their way into the flat, found the man’s half-naked body sprawled face down next to the bed in a messy room. There was a towel wrapped around his neck.

It is learnt that the man had lived alone.

It was later confirmed that the man had died four days prior to his body being discovered.
