JPTR's Lee, two others released on bail; Fraud probe continues

SHAH ALAM: JJ Poor to Rich (JJPTR) founder Johnson Lee, along with his right-hand man and a personal assistant, were released from jail on police bail today.

The three-day remand order against the trio, who were detained as part of investigations into an alleged foreign exchange trading scam, expired today.

Klang Utara district police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Yusoff Mamat told the New Straits Times that the three were released on RM5,000 police bail each.

"However, investigations by our Penang counterpart will continue.

“At 1pm today, the three men were brought to the Bandar Baru Klang police station’s Commercial Crime Investigation Department to be handed over to the Penang police," he added.

Lee and the duo, who were arrested in a 4.30am operation in Petaling Jaya on Tuesday, were investigated for a fraud case involving RM56,400 under Section 420 of the Penal Code for cheating.

JJPTR, a Penang-based company, came under scrutiny after investors said they had not been receiving their scheduled monthly payment.

Lee had reportedly claimed that the company's account had been hacked, leading to a loss of US$400 million.
