JJPTR trio rearrested, Perak police to take over investigations

BUKIT MERTAJAM: JJ Poor To Rich (JJPTR) founder Johnson Lee and his two aides have been rearrested and will be handed over to the Perak police for further investigations into an alleged money game fraud case.

Penang Commercial Crime Investigation Department chief Assistant Commissioner Abdul Ghani Ahmad when contacted confirmed that the trio have been rearrested this afternoon.

"They will be escorted to Perak and the case will now be handled by the Perak police contingent," he said.

Magistrate Diannee Ningrad Nor Azahar today declined an application by police to remand the trio for the Penang's phase of the probe.

This came after their lawyers, Mohd Shukri Ahmad Mansor and G. Jaya Prem appeared in court and argued that there was not a need for further remand as the trio had already given their full cooperation to police.

Last month, JJPTR claimed of losing almost US$400mil, or RM1.7bil after hackers siphoned its funds.

Bukit Aman Commercial Crime Investigation Department (CCID) director Comm Datuk Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani said in a statement that Bukit Aman's Anti-Money Laundering squad, CCID, Bank Negara, the Companies Commission of Malaysia, Inland Revenue Department, National Revenue Recovery Enforcement Team and CyberSecurity Malaysia raided eight locations of the money game company's office in Penang on May 12.

The trio were detained on Tuesday and were handed to the Penang police yesterday after the North Klang police completed their end of the investigation.
