ALOR STAR: Three bogus policemen who had tried to rob a farm supervisor in Sik got their just desserts when the real cops showed up and arrested them.

The incident took place five days ago at Jalan Begia in Batu 5, Sik as the supervisor, a 30-year-old man, was travelling from Jalan Batu 5 to Jeneri.

He was stopped by three men in two cars. It is understood that they had identified themselves as policemen.

Kedah police Criminal Investigation Department chief Senior Assistant Commissioner Mior Farid Alathrash Wahid said the victim wasn't convinced.

"He sent a message via WhatsApp to his employer regarding the situation. His employer in turn alerted the police and several villagers in the area," he said.

Villagers, upon learning of the situation, rushed to the scene and apprehended the men until the police showed up.

Mior Farid said initial investigation showed that the three suspects had used the same modus operandi on another victim two weeks earlier in Sik.

Mior Farid said the case is being investigated under Section 395 and 397 of Penal Code for gang robbery and armed robbery, which carries up to 20 years’ jail and whipping upon conviction.
