Abu Sayyaf leader, Philippines militant on Esscom's '18 most wanted' list

LAHAD DATU: The Eastern Sabah Security Command (Esscom) has issued new list comprising 18 wanted suspects, believed to be involved in cross-border crimes in the Eastern Security Sabah Zone (Esszone).

Esscom commander Datuk Wan Abdul Bari Wan Abdul Khalid said these individuals were wanted by the authorities to solve cross-border crimes that occurred in Sabah waters last year.

The list also included Abu Sayyaf leader Isnilon Hapilon at Basilan and militant leader Abdullah Maute at Marawi City in the Philippines.

“Isnilon and Abdullah are included in the list as they may escape to Malaysia via Sabah as the Philippine government steps up its offensive against the rebels.

“They might also enter the state under the guise of being illegal immigrants or fishermen,” he added.

Members of the public are urged to contact the Esscom operation centre at 089-863181 or 0138803585 if they have any information.
