MACC tracking down key witnesses in FIC's London hotel buy

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) is tracking down several other key witnesses to facilitate investigations into the Felda Investment Corporation Sdn Bhd (FIC) purchase of a hotel in London, United Kingdom.

A source said the commission is working to gather more information relating to the purchase of the four-star hotel in Kensington between 2013 and 2015, from the witnesses’ statements.

"The statements are important as to know whether there are elements of corruptions and swindling in the purchase of the hotel.

“The investigative team is tracking down the witnesses to gather more information relating to the purchase of the hotel and to assist in the probe,” said the source when contacted.

Meanwhile, six individuals from FIC have had their statements recorded by the commission today.

Those involved were the head of FIC hospitality, finance chief, strategic and investment senior manager, financial executive, assistant finance manager, former vice president, and chief operating officer.

MACC deputy commissioner (operations) Datuk Azam Baki when contacted confirmed the matter, adding that a team of investigators are analysing all information.

Azam also did rule out the possibilities that more witnesses will be called in from time to time to assist with the probe.
