Police nab suspected drug trafficker; seize drugs worth RM630,000

JOHOR BARU: Police arrested a night club worker for alleged possession of an assortment of drugs worth more than RM630,000 at the club here yesterday.

Acting on a tip-off, a team from the state Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department (NCID) arrested of the man, 40, during an early morning raid at the club.’

Among the drugs found included ketamine, ecstacy, erimin-5, marijuana and heroin.

Police also found several drug processing instruments and discovered that the man may have infused ecstacy into other materials to mask his trafficking activity.

State NCID chief Assistant Commissioner Lukas Aket said the drugs were packed in different portions and in various forms including pills and liquid.

"The drugs can possibly provide fix to more than 20,000 addicts. We believe the drugs is for the local market," he said.

Lukas said police believed that the club was used as a mini drug processing lab where certain type of drugs were infused into other materials such as cigarettes, jelly and flavoured drinks.

"We also found a 5l bottle of liquid ecstacy that has been infused with mango flavour," he said.

He said the case was being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, which carries the mandatory death sentence upon conviction.
