Thirteen foreigners nabbed in Selangor Immigration Dept blitz

SHAH ALAM: The Selangor Immigration Department rounded up 13 illegal immigrants during a raid in the Klang Valley yesterday.

The detainees, comprising seven men and six women, were found to have overstayed in the country, were without valid documentation/work passes, or had misused their work passes.

The illegal immigrants are from Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia, India and Pakistan.

Selangor Immigration Department enforcement chief James Lee said the raid was carried out at five different locations in Shah Alam and Kota Damansara, with a focus on restaurants, massage parlours and budget hotels.

“A total of 48 foreigners were checked and 13 of them were detained for various offences under the Immigration Act 1959/1963 and Immigration Regulations 1963.

“They have been brought to the Selangor Immigration Department’s enforcement office in Shah Alam for a further check,” Lee said here today.
