KOTA KINABALU: Police have arrested seven people for drug possession yesterday.
Acting district police chief Superintendent George Abdul Rakman said five men in a car, aged between 18 and 22, were nabbed at Jalan Sulaman here yesterday for possessing 4.43g of marijuana.
"One of them was seen throwing something out of the rear passenger window when police approached their car which was parked by the roadside."
All of them were also tested positive for drugs.
George said both men will be investigated under Section 15(1)(a) and Section 6 of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
On the same day, a couple was picked up in Luyang for possessing of 1.43g of syabu.
"The duo were on a motorcycle, when police approached them, the man tried to escape but we manage to apprehend him shortly after.
"The police team found 11 plastic packets of crystal-like substance believed to be syabu kept in a small container.
“We believe they were waiting for customers,” he said, adding the couple will be investigated under Section 12(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 .
