'Datuk Seri' allegedly attacks 3 Rela men over parking issue

KUALA LUMPUR: A man with the title “Datuk Seri” was alleged to have assaulted three People’s Volunteer Corps (Rela) when they told him to move his car that had obstructed the traffic.

Ampang Jaya police chief Assistant Commissioner Hamzah Alias said the incident occurred near Kau Ong Yah Temple at 6.30am on Friday.

The Datuk Seri is believed to be angry when victims, Ranbo Lee, 27, Jackie Leong, 21, and Melvin Cheong, 19, asked him move his car.

The attacker had parked his Toyota Vellfire on the roadside which obstructed the traffic.

In the incident, Lee suffered bruises and swelling to his left eye, Leong was kicked and Cheong was hit on the back of his head.

The victims received treatment at Ampang Hospital after the assault.

Hamzah said police were verifying the identity of the attacker and no arrest had been made so far.

The case is being investigated under Section 323 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt. Meanwhile, MCA Public Service and Complaints Department chairman Datuk Seri Michael Chong said today the incident was captured on a closed-circuit television camera.

Chong said the attacker, a businessman, scolded the victims and said that they disrespected the elders.

“How can anyone do this, more so to people on duty? This is an insult to our uniforms,” he said.
