Moneychanger, assistant shot at Kajang bus stop in robbery attempt

KAJANG: A moneychanger and her assistant were shot at a bus stop in Bandar Teknologi Kajang here last night in a suspected botched robbery.

The victims, a 61-year-old local woman and a 33-year-old Pakistani man, are believed to have sustained gunshot wounds to the face and are currently being treated at the Kajang Hospital.

The incident is believed to have occurred at 9.30pm when the woman was dropping off her employee at a bus stop after work.

“The worker was alighting from the Toyota Fortuner when a gunman fired shots at them.

“We believe there was more than one suspect. They escaped the scene in a red Proton Waja,” said District police chief Assistant Commissioner Ahmad Dzaffir Yusoff.

Police believe it was an attempted robbery case, based on the occupation of the victims.

Dzaffir added that police found four bullet slugs at the scene.

The case is being investigated under Section 3 of the Firearms Act 1971 (Increased Penalties).
