Woman found dead after jumping out of car following a quarrel with her boyfriend

PAPAR: A woman was killed after jumping out of a moving vehicle during a quarrel with her boyfriend, last week.

The 20-year-old woman sustained serious injuries and was discovered in a pool of blood by the road side at Kilometre 5 Jalan Papar Baru-Kota Kinabalu.

District police chief Deputy Superintendent Ladamah Sulaiman said police had arrested the boyfriend on Monday and have since classified the case as murder.

The man was in his 30s and worked as an engineer with a private company.

“Based on investigations, the victim and her boyfriend were travelling in a Toyota Hilux and they were heading towards Kota Kinabalu. The boyfriend was driving the vehicle.

“It is learnt that the couple was drunk and they had an argument. As they reached the (crime) scene, the woman is believed to have jumped out of the car.

“The boyfriend left her and sped off but witnesses managed to jot down the car registration number before alerting the police,” said Ladamah in a press conference, adding passers-by rushed the victim to the district hospital.

The 11.30pm incident occurred at a junction close to the victim’s house, on Oct 27. The victim was transferred to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in the state capital, where she was pronounced dead the following day.

On Monday, police nabbed the boyfriend in Sipitang district following his actions, which led to criminal conduct leading to the victim’s death.

Ladamah added the couple had known each other for two months via the WeChat application and they had met the evening prior to the incident.
