Fake credit card mule nabbed at KK airport; 817 cloned cards seized

KOTA KINABALU: The Customs Department detained a 34-year-old man at Kota Kinabalu International Airport (KKIA) on Wednesday, for possessing 817 cloned credit cards.

The man, who was about to board a plane to Hong Kong, was stopped by Custom officers at 1.25am, after they became suspicious of the content of his backpack.

"Further inspection, the Customs officers found four boxes in the backpack containing credit cards from various banks.

"The suspect is believed to be a mule and was attempting to bring the cloned credit cards for an international syndicate in Hong Kong." police said in a statement.

The suspect is being investigated under Section 420 of the Penal Code for cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property.
