Son of Salor assemblyman claims trial to meth possession

KOTA BARU: The son of Salor assemblyman Datuk Husam Musa was charged at the magistrate’s court here on Wednesday with possession of 20gm of a drug believed to be methamphetamine.

Ahmad Syafi Husam, 29, pleaded not guilty to the charge before magistrate Kamarul Hasyime Rosli.

The eldest of seven siblings is alleged to have committed the offence near a house at Lot 409, Jalan Pasir Mas-Salor, Kampung Jelutung at 3.30pm on Nov 18.

The accused was charged under Section 12 (2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, which is punishable under Section 39 A (1) of the same Act.

Ahmad Syafi was represented by five lawyers, led by counsel Firdaus Mohd Yusoff.

Muhamad Shahirun Azri Mohd Nordin acted as deputy public prosecutor for the case.

Shahirun had earlier demanded RM15,000 bail for the accused, but Firdaus asked for the amount to be reduced to RM8,000.

The magistrate allowed Ahmad Syafi to be released on RM10,000 bail with one surety.

He fixed Jan 14 next year for mention of the case.
