Man jailed four months for stealing Star Wars figurines from Subang Toys 'R' Us

PETALING JAYA: Sometimes, the Force just isn’t with you.

A factory worker was today sentenced to four months jail for stealing more than RM1,000 worth of Star Wars figurines from Toys ‘R’ Us three months ago.

Mohamad Firdaus Abdullah, 24, admitted to stealing six figurines, which included an Imperial Sandtrooper, Shoretrooper and Yoda.

He stole the items from a Toys ‘R’ Us at the Empire Shopping Gallery in Subang Jaya at 11.30am on Sept 6.

Magistrate Salamiah Salleh meted out the sentence after Mohamad Firdays pleaded guilty to the offence.

A 24-year-old man was sentenced to four months in jail by the magistrate’s court for stealing Star Wars figurines worth RM1,093 three months ago.

The offence falls under Section 380 of the penal Code which carries maximum 10 years’ imprisonment and fine upon conviction.

Mohamad Firdaus, who did not have a lawyer, expressed remorse over his crime.

“I decided to steal from the shop because I was unhappy with the (poor) service they gave me earlier,” he said.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Mary Phoon Keat Mee pressed for a deterrent sentence, stating that the case involved public interest.
