ALOR STAR: Three Mat Rempit were three times unlucky when they were hit with a trio of punishments - five days' jail, a RM5,000 fine each as well as having their driving licences suspended for two years.

That was the price the trio paid for taking part in an illegal street race at the Kota Lama Museum in Kuala Kedah, Padang Garam junction and Kampung Sungai Dua junction about 5pm last Friday.

Magistrate Mohd Aizuddin Zolkefly meted out the sentence after all three accused - Mohd Azlin Che Lah, 21; Norshahizan Ismail, 32; Ahmad Asyraf Zakaria, 25 and an 18-year-old teenager - pleaded guilty to the charge.

The court allowed the juvenile to be released on a RM3,000 bail after his sentencing was fixed on Jan 24, pending a report from the Welfare Department.
