Feb 7 set to re-mention case of 4 Indonesians who attempted to enter Jolo Island through Malaysian waters

SANDAKAN: The Sessions Court here set Feb 7 to re-mention the case of four Indonesians who attempted to enter Jolo Island, Philippines, through Malaysian waters earlier this month.

The four caught on Dec 4 at 11.50pm were believed to be planning to participate in terrorist activities there.

Judge Ummu Kalthom Abd Samad set the date after deputy public prosecutor Mohd Faisal Mohd Noor applied for time to wait for further instructions as the case had to be moved to the High Court.

All four suspects - Suhantok Sahir, 31, Ali Abdullah Narawi, 31, Mohd Saripudin Ahmad, 35, and Juhedi Jaya, 35 - who did not possess valid documents, were detained in a boat by authorities at Tanjung Aru waters here.

The case was investigated for soliciting or giving support to terrorist groups.

All suspects, who were not represented, will be remanded until the re-mention as they were not allowed bail.
