Girl kidnapped by "Sergeant Faiz" wants to put the incident behind her

KUANTAN: The 17-year-old girl who was kidnapped by "Sergeant Faiz" on Dec 27 wants to put the nightmare behind her and focus on her Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia examination this year.

Nur Syaminn Nabila Mohd Shapawi said she was relieved that police have arrested the suspect in Ipoh, Perak today, so that other innocent victims will not fall into his trap.

The SMK Sungai Ruan student in Raub said the incident serves as a lesson for her to be extra careful when approached by strangers.

"I want to put the incident behind me and focus on my lessons in school....I am sitting for SPM this year. It is good that the police have tracked down and arrested the suspect," she said.

Police hunted for Nur Syaminn's kidnapper for 10 days, after her mother claimed she was taken by a policeman from Ulu Gali in Raub on Dec 27.

In the incident, the man had identified himself as a newly transferred police sergeant and that he was in charge of the Sungai Ruan station.

He then ask the girl to help bring his newly-purchased motorcycle from a shop to his house. She was instead taken away.

Nur Syaminn returned to Raub two days later and told police that she took a bus from Kuala Lumpur.

Today, State Criminal Investigation Department chief Senior Assistant Commissioner Othman Nanyan confirmed the suspect who was also sought for four cheating cases in Mentakab, molest case in Cameron Highlands, theft in Pekan and rape in Terengganu, was nabbed in front of a hotel about 2am in Ipoh, Perak.

On top of that, the suspect is also wanted in connection with two cases of impersonating a public servant in Johor and Raub.
