3 including teenage girl arrested for robbery

KEPALA BATAS: Police arrested three people including a teenage girl for robbing a foreigner by threatening the man at knife-point here yesterday.

Seberang Perai Utara district police chief Assistant Commissioner Noorzainy Mohd Noor said the arrest was made following a report about 12.30pm of a Pakistani man being robbed by four people.

According to the report, four people came on two motorcycles and threatened to hurt the victim with the knife and demanded for his valuables.

"Acting on the report, we detained two men, aged 18 and 21, at Permatang Sungai Dua, and they then led us to the teenage girl who was also detained. She is believed to be their accomplice.

"Upon interrogation, the two men admitted committing the act while the teenage girl was involved in another similar case with the two.

"They have another accomplice who is still at large," he said in a statement today.

Both men tested positive for drugs and one of them have past record for drug related offences.

The trio will be remanded until Jan 14 for further investigation.

The case was being investigated for gang robbery with attempt to cause death or grievous hurt.
