Police: Nine arrested in drug bust in Negri Sembilan

JELEBU: Police yesterday arrested nine individuals, included two suspected drug pushers, during an anti-drug operation at an oil palm plantation here.

The 12-hour operation that began 4am was conducted at Felda Pasoh Empat, which was identified by police as a hotspot for drug addicts.

Jelebu district police chief deputy superintendent Kamarul Rizal Jenal said seven drug addicts, aged between 20 and 40, were arrested.

“The police waited for three hours before arresting all seven suspects, who were unaware of our presence. Some of them tried to avoid arrest by claiming to be working in the area,” he said during a press conference.

Kamarul added that a 40-year-old man was also arrested on suspicion of dealing drugs.

“The man claimed he was looking for a missing cow that belonged to his family, but police found two straws containing 0.5 grams of heroine in his bag.

“Based on the information he provided, we managed to arrest a 30-year-old man at a petrol station in Felda Pasoh Satu. The suspect was carrying 0.16 grams of syabu hidden in a cigarette box.”

He said the seven drug addicts, who had criminal records for drug-related offences, would be investigated under Section 12 (2) and Section 15 (1) (a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
