SHAH ALAM: Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) did not leak the closed-circuit television (CCTV) video recording of the murder of North Korean Kim Chol.
The recording of the incident was obtained from a CCTV at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2 (klia2) and was aired on Japanese television station Fuji TV in Japan a few days after the incident.
MAHB security assistant at klia2, G. Shankar testified that MAHB was not responsible for the leakage of the CCTV footage which went viral on social media.
He was the 30th witness testifying in the trial of Indonesian Siti Aisyah, 26, and Vietnamese Doan Thi Huong, 29, who were charged with killing Kim Chol who was claimed to be Kim Jong-nam, the estranged half-brother of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.
Shankar, 31, told the court that he was responsible for transferring the CCTV recordings at klia2 relating to the incident into six DVDs that he handed over to the investigating officer handling the case.
During cross examination by Siti Aisyah's counsel Gooi Soon Seng, Shankar said investigations by police revealed that the video aired on Fuji TV and on social media was not obtained from MAHB.
"Investigations were carried out and police had taken statements from not only me but all of the personnel at the department who were on duty.
"After carrying out their investigations, police found that the video was not from MAHB," he said.
Shankar who was the CCTV supervisor also told the court that no MAHB staff was charged after the investigation.
He testified that he only saw the video on Facebook.
To a question by Gooi about the folder where the recordings were stored in, the witness said no one could access the folder as only he knew the password to open it.
Gooi: Back to the folder.. do we need a password to access it?
Shankar: Yes.
Gooi: Is it your own personal password?
Shankar: Yes and I do not share it with anyone.
Gooi: So nobody could access the six folders without your permission?
Shankar: Yes.
Meanwhile, during re-examination by deputy public prosecutor Wan Shahruddin Wan Ladin, Shankar said only certain recordings from the six DVDs he made were aired on Fuji TV.
"I made six DVD's of the CCTV recordings and only the content of one of the DVDs was aired, he said.
Trial continues tomorrow before judge Datuk Azmi Ariffin.
Siti Aisyah and Doan were charged with four men still at large, with killing Kim Chol, 45, at the klia2 departure hall at about 9am on Feb 13.
Kim Chol was killed using the highly toxic liquid nerve agent VX.
