Ampang apartment operating as gambling den raided, 16 nabbed

KUALA LUMPUR: Police last night raided an Ampang apartment which was operating as an illegal gambling outlet and arrested 16 people, including two operators.

The 9.45pm raid in Taman Pandan Mesra saw 14 foreigners netted, including a woman. The operation, dubbed Ops Dadu, was conducted by the Selangor Anti-Vice, Gaming and Secret Societies Division (D7) as part of an ongoing nationwide crackdown on illegal gambling.

Selangor D7 administration officer Deputy Superintendent Norhizam Bahaman said the woman, an Indonesian, was an employee of the two local operators of the illegal den.

"Checks showed that the premises had been operating illegally for several months," he said.

Police also confiscated five game stimulator machines, 30 slot machines, 10 reload coupons and RM282 in cash from the premises.
