No criminal element linked to IT officer's mysterious disappearance

BATU PAHAT: Police has ruled out any criminal element in the mysterious disappearance of assistant information technology executive Azmee Elias, 36, who was reported missing more than two weeks ago.

Azmee, who stays in Kuala Lumpur, was working at the Kuala Lumpur Syariah Court in Jalan Duta. His family in Kuala Lumpur lodged a police report when he did not return home on Feb 12 and failed to answers their calls.

His mysterious disappearance was solved when his uncle, who stays in Johor, found his nephew unconscious at his grandmother's house in Kampung Bintang, Peserai here, which has been vacant for almost 10 years.

On Feb 17, police found Azmee's car parked at the side of the road along Jalan Jenderam in Dengkil. Several official and personal documents belonging to Azmee were also found strewn in front of the car. The car was locked but Azmee was nowhere to be found.

Batu Pahat district police chief assistant commissioner Abdul Wahib Musa, when asked about the investigation, said so far police had ruled out criminal element in Azmee's case.

“However we will continue with investigations and we will call him (Azmee) to have his statement recorded soon. He is currently warded at a hospital as he was found in a weak condition due to dehydration and food deprivation. We believe he has not eaten in days,” he said.

Wahib said the investigation will also involve Putrajaya police in solving the mystery behind the Azmee's 13-day disappearance.

“I urge the public not to speculate on the case and make unsubstantiated claims in the social media which can disrupt police investigations,” he said.
