Woman kidnapped, hit, blindfolded, abandoned over Facebook posting [NSTTV]

KUALA TERENGGANU: Out of vengeance over some Facebook posting, a 26-year-old woman teamed up with her six friends before they kidnapped a 19-year-old from Jalan Kamarudin and abandoned her by the roadside 20km away in Marang at midnight yesterday.

In the 12.30am incident, the suspects, who were in a Grand Livina (MPV-multipurpose vehicle) intercepted and blocked the victim and her two friends traveling in a Perodua Axia, before two of the suspects dragged the victim out of the car into the MPV.

After getting the victim into the MPV, another suspect in the vehicle blindfolded her and tied her hands and legs.

Kuala Terengganu deputy police chief Superintendent Suffian Sulaiman said the victim was also beaten during the drive until Kampung Teratak Batu, Marang, where she was thrown out of the vehicle.

"She was later rescued by some passerby about 20km from where they abducted her.

Suffian said a police report was lodged by the victim the same night and police picked up two women, both 26 years old, at Kuala Terengganu that evening.

"Based on our initial investigation, the motive for the kidnapping came from the main suspect known as 'Ailin' after the victim condemned her on Facebook. Unhappy with the criticism, 'Ailin' wanted revenge," Suffian said when met at the Kuala Terengganu district police headquarters today.

He added police had also traced the whereabouts of the remaining five accomplices.

Meanwhile, at the Kuala Terengganu Court Complex, seven individuals including two men aged 18 and 26 were remanded for four days to facilitate investigation into the kidnapping.

The remand order was issued by Magistrate / Sessions Court Assistant Registrar Wan Aziantie Wan Ab Kari @ Isa.
