Court fixes April 6 for case management in 'Datuk Seri' cheating case

KOTA KINABALU: A man who claimed to be a ‘Datuk Seri’ today maintained his not guilty plea to cheating an Indonesian woman early this year.

Magistrate Afiq Agoes fixed April 6 for further case management against 65-year-old Saad Sani, who on March 15 was charged under Section 420 of the Penal Code with cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property.

Saad from Kedah was represented by counsel Datuk Norbert Chin.

He was charged with deceiving Dina Kairupan, who holds a valid Indonesian passport, into obtaining a SR Card from his company - Syarikat SR Manpower Resources Sdn Bh - on Jan 3 by inducing her to believe that he could get her the SR card and made her give him RM580.

The SR cards, allegedly provided by the accused's company, were enforcement cards meant for illegal foreign workers.

Saad was accompanied by relatives, who were seen trying to prevent press photographers from taking photos of him outside the courtroom.
