Witness says he saw accused driving murdered DPP's car on the night of the incident

KUALA LUMPUR: The fifth accused in deputy public prosecutor Datuk Anthony Kevin Morais’s murder trial told the High Court today that he saw S. Ravi Chandaran drive the victim’s car on the night of the incident.

M. Vishwanath said he came to Kuala Lumpur from Sungai Petani, Kedah to buy a Proton Perdana V6 which belonged to Jay - also known as G. Gunasekaran.

“I came to Kuala Lumpur with S. Nimalan (sixth accused) on the night of Sept 2, 2015 in his Mitsubishi Triton and stayed at a hotel near Sunway.

“As soon as we arrived about 5am (Sept 3), we went to Gunasekaran’s house to see the car and met Ravi Chandaran (the seventh accused) for the first time there.

“On the night of the incident (Sept 4), we went out for a drink. When I was playing a game on my mobile phone, Nimalan had picked up a call while driving his Triton and hit a vehicle near a traffic light,” he said during the examination-in-chief by lawyer V. Rajehgopal on the third day of the defence trial today.

He said Nimalan then got out and confronted the other driver and they talked in front of their vehicles before both of them decided to move away to the roadside.

He said after both of them parked their vehicles by the roadside, he saw Gunasekaran in his Perdana V6 approaching the duo and parking his car at the back of the victim’s car.

“About five minutes later, I saw Ravi Chandaran across the street as he was about to join the fray.

“I saw him (Ravi Chandaran) going to the victim’s driving seat and driving off followed by our vehicle which was driven by Nimalan,” he said.

Vishwanath said they lost the car driven by Ravi Chandaran at a traffic light junction before Nimalan sent them back to the hotel.

“I bought a bus ticket and went back to Kulim the next day,” he said.
