PUTRAJAYA: The Immigration Department has no record of either ex-Sabah Chief Minister Tan Sri Musa Aman or Sungai Besar Umno Division chief Datuk Seri Jamal Yunos leaving the country.
Its director-general Datuk Seri Mustafar Ali said that the exact whereabouts of both men who are wanted by the authorities have not been established.
He added that both Musa and Jamal have been blacklisted by the Immigration Department.
“If they left the country through illegal routes, they have violated the country’s laws” he told reporters.
Mustafar was referring to Section 2 of the Passport Act 1966, which requires Malaysian travellers to produce their passport upon entry into or departure from the country.
Under Section 5 of the Immigration Act 1959/63, no one shall, unless compelled by accident or other reasonable cause, enter or leave Malaysia, except at an authorised landing place, airport or point of entry.
Failure to do so could result in a fine of not more than RM10,000, a jail sentence of not more than five years, or both.
Musa reportedly left Sabah for Kuala Lumpur on May 14, and has been missing ever since.
Mustafar said that police will look into claims that the former chief minister has been spotted in London.
He said police will wait for Musa to come forward to assist them in an investigation into alleged criminal intimidation, before taking the next course of action.
Sabah police commissioner Datuk Ramli Din had said that police managed to contact Musa “via a few channels” and had asked him to return home.
Meanwhile, Jamal has six criminal cases pending against him, and was charged with three other offences when he disappeared while undergoing medical treatment at the Ampang Puteri Medical Centre on May 25.
One charge was for causing a public nuisance by smashing beer bottles with a sledgehammer in front of the Selangor state secretariat building last year, which carries a fine of RM400 on conviction.
Two other charges are related to firearms possession and rioting.
In a video recording which has gone viral, Jamal said that he feels there are “hidden hands” ordering the police to target him.
