SELAYANG: Two Form 3 students claimed trial at the Magistrate’s Court here after they were charged with raping a Form 1 student.
The accused, both 15, pleaded not guilty after the charge was read to them before Magistrate Iriane Isabello.
Based on the charge sheet, both the juvenile offenders were charged with raping the girl at an abandoned hall in Kota Warisan, Selayang and also in a ladies’ room in Selayang Mall, between July and September.
Both the teenagers were charged under Section 376(1) of the Penal Code which carries a maximum 20 years in jail and whipping.
Earlier, Deputy Public Prosecutor Nur Shasha Hidayah Nor Azahar offered RM5,000 bail in one surety for each of them.
However, the teenagers, who were not represented, made a plea through their parents for a lower bail because they’re still in school and the family income is unstable.
The court then set the bail at RM2,500 in one surety for each accused and set Nov 21 for the re-mention of the case.
