Zahid appears at KL Court Complex to offer Najib moral support

KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi arrived at the Kuala Lumpur Courts Complex this morning to offer his moral support to fellow embattled Umno leader, Datuk Seri Najib Razak.

The black-suited Umno president, who arrived at the complex at 9am, told reporters that he was there to back Najib.

“I am here to give moral support,” he said.

Zahid met with Najib’s son, Mohd Ashman, before entering the courtroom, where Najib is slated to be charged.

Other supporters who showed up include Umno Supreme Council member Datuk Lokman Noor Adam.

When Zahid was charged with multiple counts of graft and Criminal Breach of Trust (CBT) on Oct 19, Najib was present to show his backing.

Zahid, who took over the party presidency from Najib after Umno’s 14th general election defeat, was slapped with 45 charges.

He allegedly committed 10 CBT and eight corruption offences involving over RM42 million, and 27 money laundering offences involving over RM72 million.

He pleaded not guilty to all 45 charges and is out on RM2 million bail.
